Our 2025 Participants

Mi Sun Mira - WA
Sponsor Goal: $2000

Since I moved out of Kodiak in 2011, it has been my dream to attend as a participant in Ocean Challenge. Watching as my older brother and sisters attend this workshop has been inspiring me ever since I was a baby. And since then, that inspiration has never dwindled. As I continued to read True Father’s autobiography “As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen”, he mentioned how the ocean can be the central point of bringing the world together. If I can be able to take a step forward into that world and begin to grasp the idea, then it is only increasing my desire to attend Ocean Challenge, not only externally but internally as well.

Dalene Chen - CA
Sponsor Goal: $2500

Hi! My name is Dalene, I'm a second gen from the Bay Area. Im just coming off my first year of GPA and I'm super excited to end my year in this way before going home. I learned a little about Ocean Providence while in NJ. True Parents work in the ocean and the fishing industry always really spiked my interest. Father talks about fishing a lot and I feel like through experiencing it myself, I can gain a deeper understanding of True Parents heart. There is SO much knowledge and history behind ocean providence and I'm super curious to learn more about it. True Parents had such a big influence in this industry which is why I think its so important for 2nd gen to learn from and go out to do the same in other fields. Overall Im excited to end my year like this and to gain clarity with the path that God is preparing for me.

Anya Chen - CA
Sponsor Goal: $2500

My name is Anya Chen and I have spent the last three years as a missionary for Generation Peace Academy. I love nature and spending time outdoors & the ocean is my favorite type of nature. I want to attend ocean challenge to inherit & understand what TPS vision for the ocean was because they spent so much of their time out on the sea and fishing. I’ve never fished before so I’m excited to learn. And I see it as a chance to connect to God through nature and deepen my relationship with Him before going into the next phase of my life. I have wanted to come to NOCP since five years ago & now have the opportunity to, so any contribution would help so much! Thank you!

Hiroto Arakawa - DC

Sponsor Goal: $1500

I’m a senior in high school from Washington DC, about to graduate and take a mission gap year with Generation Peace Academy. I enjoy nature, and am close to earning my Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. I’m coming to Ocean Challenge to grow my life of faith, connect with True Father’s heart through the ocean, and learn leadership through nature and service. I want to bring these lessons back to uplift my Capital Family church community. Your support would help me deepen my spiritual journey and become someone who leads with faith, gratitude, and a heart to serve others.

Issac Granstrom - WA

Sponsor Goal: $1000

Hello! My name is Issac Granstrom and I'm hoping to go to Ocean Challenge this year. I see it as a great opportunity to grow my life of faith and become closer to God and True Parents. If I'm able to go, I would love to contribute to everyone growing their life of faith by fully investing myself in the experience. Ocean Challenge is something I'm kicking off of my bucket list before I seriously get into my career, so any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Our 2025 Captains-in-Training

Jungjin Joo - NJ

Sponsor Goal: $2500

My name is Jungjin Joo, I am a member of the Clifton Family Church in New Jersey. I was born in Kodiak, Alaska and have felt a deep connection to the ocean since birth. My family has always been involved in Ocean Providence, Father's vision to solve world hunger through the ocean, and I found myself always connecting to God and my family through the water. Being a student and transitioning into the work force, I have been consistently searching for research and internship opportunities. This summer, I was blessed to accept a position as a researcher at a lab. However, when God called me back to Kodiak, everything fell into place and I find myself applying again. I truly believe that God has something waiting for me in Kodiak, whether it's to be loved or to love me.

Daniel Avramenko - WA

Sponsor Goal: $2000

Hi, I'm Daniel Avramenko.

I was a participant in 2023, and wanted to come again as a CIT but due to Medical Emergencies, I could not attend the following year, and instead went into surgery.

I have now recovered, and wish to come to Kodiak again to be a Captain in Training as I have been working with my own two hands to achieve.

After NOCP, I am going straight to GPA to resume the year I never finished.
